Why Powerlifting?

Powerlifting is a Better Way to Get Strong and Become Pain-Free

The word powerlifting can be intimidating for a lot of people. Many ask me why powerlifting as we get to know each other. “Isn’t that all about being insanely strong, grunting in workouts, and dropping weights to make the whole room shake?”

Typically curiosity wins and later (not upfront) they really want to know. Honestly, it’s not so much about what’s on the surface of the word as it is about what’s underneath it. You don’t have to be a powerlifter in Philly to train with us.

Really, I opened up a strength-training gym in Philly with powerlifting as a chosen method to help people in the wellness community reach their health and fitness goals. That doesn’t mean you need to subscribe to the powerlifting method. If you want to just do body-splits or sign up to lift some weights, maybe run a bit and do jumping jacks, that’s perfectly okay too.

When we coach you, we use principles and guidelines from the sport to make sure you get the results and benefits you’re looking for. Through our personal training, you may not even realize it’s powerlifting – just a form of strength-training personalized to you!

Ultimately, I want people to get the results they’re looking for in the most efficient and effective way possible. I believe powerlifting is proven to do this. Efficiency does’t mean lose as much weight as fast as possible or even gain as much muscle as possible super fast.

For us, it means achieving your goals without wasting time, money, and effort. You find exercises you enjoy and realize you can both simultaneously achieve your goal and minimize any permanent damage done to the body.

You grow to appreciation your body as a whole through the big 3 compound lifts: the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Maybe you sign up for a fun or competitive powerlifting meet and realize it’s a really cool community!

It’s about becoming pain-free through strengthening muscles that support your joints or improving your mobility/flexibility so certain movements don’t break your back or injure you.

This is why I chose powerlifting. It’s not so much powerlifting as it is power lifting; it’s about empowering you to lift yourself up and gain confidence in your body which will carry over to the rest of your life.

You become resilient and more than that, anti-fragile. What is anti-fragility? Basically it’s coming out even stronger and better through stress.

We go above and beyond to make sure you’re making progress towards your goal. We help you become independent from us.

Wait….what! Really? Yes, our goal isn’t to just keep you as long as possible.

It’s to keep you just long enough so that both your body and mind is empowered and more capable to persevere on its own towards goals.

We’re not in the business of having you sign up for membership and not use any of our services, whether that’s personal training, workout programming, or just open gym access. We’ll do everything we can to keep you engaged and connected!
